What personal data we collect and why we collect it

The data that we collect about you depends in part on actions that you take while visiting the tabithaconall.com website–for instance, we will collect different data based on your leaving a comment or subscribing to the newsletter.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to the Tabitha Conall newsletter using one of the sign-up forms, we will collect your name and email address and send them to Aweber, the vendor who provides email services for us. We do not store the data on the tabithaconall.com site; the data goes directly to Aweber.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we optionally collect the data shown in the comments form, and if you click the checkbox to remember your information, we will place a cookie.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

There are no essential cookies that get set.  For most users, the only possible cookie would be if you opt-in when leaving a comment.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

The web hosting company, Dreamhost, which hosts this website, keeps logs of visits for security purposes and to maintain healthy systems. Those logs contain IP addresses, among other information. The logs are kept for 3 days and then deleted.  They are essential.

All other analytics that we do use anonymized data which cannot be tied to a particular person.

Giveaways

If you enter information into a form in order to enter a giveaway, that data will be gathered in order to complete the giveaway and award the prizes.

Who we share your data with

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Additional information

How we protect your data

We only work with vendors who are GDPR-compliant. In those rare cases where we store data ourselves, such as backups of the active newsletter subscribers, the data is kept offline so it is not reachable via the internet.

What third parties we receive data from

At this time, this website/newsletter does not receive personal information from any third party companies.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

This site uses IP addresses for security purposes, to protect against spam. Whenever possible, we anonymize the IP addresses using hashes so that we do not store the IP address itself.

The Newsletter has automated processes in place to remove subscribers if the subscriber marks an email as ‘spam’, or if the email address bounces repeatedly.

Industry regulatory disclosure requirements

If required to do so by law, or if you breach our Terms of Service, we may disclose your personal information.

You are no longer governed by this Privacy Policy once you leave this website.

This privacy policy may be changed at any time.
